Hesperian Press is run by a Non-Profit Foundation. Click here to view the aims of the Foundation. The Foundation ensures that the maximum amount of funds are available to publish books of special interest and limited demand.

Hesperian Press has been publishing Real Australian Books since 1969 when its principal, Peter Bridge, first published technical material. The current program commenced in 1979 and Hesperian now has a book list of over 900 titles, with up to 20 works in progress at any time.

Hesperian Press publishes books about:

Australiana

Life in the Bush, Pioneers and Early Settlers

Explorers and Prospectors

Military History

Gold Rushes, Mining and Goldfields History

Scientific Reference Works

Maritime History

The Non Profit Foundation behind Hesperian Press maintains an extensive research library relating to these subjects. This library and other research material is the catalyst for many of the books it has published.

Hesperian actively seeks access to original manuscripts, photographs and other items relating to general bush history. If you have any items you are willing to loan for copying or can help in any way please contact Hesperian Press.

Our commitment to publishing historical studies is unparalleled in Australia. This output of nearly 600 titles has been achieved without a cent of taxpayers’ funds (except for the two W.A. Exploration diaries).
